Large Terracotta Cherub Wall Plaque   This large terracotta cherub wall plaque is a nice decorative piece, rich in classical influence and full of charm. The moulded relief depicts a graceful central female figure surrounded by a lively gathering of cherubs (or putti), intertwined with flowing drapery and floral garlands, very much in the spirit of Renaissance and Baroque design.   At an impressive 58cm diameter, it has real presence and works very well as a statement wall piece, whether indoors in a hallway or living room, or outdoors in a garden setting. The warm terracotta tones and naturally weathered surface give it that softly aged patina we all look for, with just the right amount of wear to enhance its character without detracting from the detail.   Likely dating to the early – mid 20th century, this is a decorative revival piece rather than an earlier carved work, but no less appealing for it.  A great option for adding texture, warmth and a touch of old-world elegance.
